Public Forums are now available. There are several public Fire mailing lists. Based on your interests, you are welcome to subscribe to some or all of them. There is also an IRC room that sometimes contains a Fire dev or two.

Mailing Lists

- General discussion happens here. Features, bugs, questions about using any of the services, icon debates. This is the first list most people subscribe to.
- fire-localization (Subscribe/Unsubscribe)
- Are you fluent in a language other than English? We'd love your help localizing Fire.
- fire-development (Subscribe/Unsubscribe)
- This is the list for questions and discussion relating to the source-level development of Fire. Having trouble compiling? Ask here first.
- fire-commits (Subscribe/Unsubscribe)
- Every time someone checks something into the sourceforge CVS tree, this list gets notified. Be warned: this list can be extremely high traffic at times.
Please Note: Sending e-mails to any of these lists asking to be unsubscribed is not going to get you off the list.
The IRC Channel
There is a Fire channel, #fire, on the Freenode IRC network. You are more than welcome to drop by to chat about Fire. To configure Fire to join the IRC channel:
- Open the Accounts window (⌘-Shift-E, or use the Accounts menu)
- Add a new IRC account using the "Add a new account" toolbar item
- Use whatever nickname you'd like
- Leave the Password field blank and the checkbox checked
- Enter
chat.freenode.netas the server and leave the port set to 6667 - Save the account and connect to it
- Choose "Add Buddy..." from the Buddies menu
- Name the buddy "fire" and leave the Alias blank
- Choose "irc" as the Service and choose the Group you'd like the channel to appear in
- Save the new buddy, and you're done! The "fire" buddy will appear in your Buddies List. Double-clicking it will join the channel and allow you to chat with the other people that are in it.
